Paying a Vesta link, step by step.
You received a payment link from a business. Here is everything you need, even if this is your first time paying with USDC.
What you are looking at
The payment page shows the business name, the amount in USDC and what it is for. USDC is a digital dollar: 1 USDC is designed to be worth 1 US dollar. It lives in a crypto wallet and moves over the Base network. You pay from your own wallet, and the money goes straight to the business — Vesta never holds it.
You don't need an account, and nobody asks for your name, email or card.
Choose how to pay
The page offers four ways. Pick the one that matches you:
- My USDC is on an exchange (Bybit, Binance, Kraken, OKX, Coinbase…) or in a wallet I would rather not connect. Use Send from an exchange or any wallet (Option D): the page gives you an address that belongs to this payment only, and you simply send the USDC there.
- I don't have a crypto wallet. Use Pay with Face ID / fingerprint (below). It creates a wallet for you right in the browser — no app, no password, nothing to write down, and no network fees.
- I have MetaMask, Rabby or Brave Wallet in my browser. Use Browser wallet.
- I have a wallet app on my phone (MetaMask Mobile, Trust, Rainbow…). Use Phone wallet and scan the QR code.
Option A — Pay with Face ID / fingerprint (no wallet needed)
- Click Pay with Face ID / fingerprint. Your phone or computer asks you to confirm with Face ID, Touch ID, fingerprint or your device PIN — that creates a passkey, and the passkey is the key to your new wallet. Nothing to install, nothing to write down.
- Your passkey is saved by your device (and synced by iCloud Keychain or Google Password Manager, so it follows you to your other devices). Vesta never sees it. Use the same device or account next time and the page will offer Pay with your passkey — the same wallet.
- The page now shows your new wallet address and how much USDC you need. Fund it (see “Getting USDC” below). The page updates by itself when the USDC arrives.
- Click Pay and confirm once. Vesta covers the network fee — you pay exactly the amount shown.
Option B — Browser wallet (MetaMask and others)
- Click Browser wallet and approve the connection in your wallet. If asked, allow switching to the Base network.
- Your wallet needs enough USDC on Base for the amount, plus a little ETH on Base for the network fee (usually under a cent).
- You will confirm twice: first Allow (permission for exactly this amount of USDC), then Pay. Both are normal; both are yours to approve.
Option C — Phone wallet
- Click Phone wallet, open your wallet app and scan the QR code (or tap the link if you are already on your phone).
- Then it works like Option B: allow, then pay, confirming each step in the app. You need USDC and a little ETH on Base.
Option D — Send from an exchange or any wallet
- Click Send from an exchange or any wallet. The page shows an address (with a QR code) that belongs to this payment only — nobody else ever pays into it.
- In your exchange app go to Withdraw → USDC → paste that address → network Base → amount. Add the exchange's withdrawal fee so that the amount that arrives is at least the amount shown. From another wallet, just send USDC on Base to the address.
- Keep the page open. It notices the USDC by itself (exchanges usually take 1–5 minutes), then forwards it to the business — Vesta pays the network fee for that step, and the forwarding contract can send to nobody but the business and Vesta's fee wallet.
- Sent a bit too little? The page says “short by X” — send the missing amount to the same address. Sent too much? The extra is forwarded to the business as well; Vesta cannot refund it, so contact the business.
- Send only USDC on Base. USDC sent on another network does not arrive here.
Getting USDC into your wallet
If your wallet has no USDC (or not enough), the page shows how much more you need and your wallet address with a Copy button. Send USDC to that address on the Base network:
- From an exchange (Bybit, Binance, Kraken, OKX, Coinbase…): go to Withdraw → USDC → paste your wallet address → choose network Base → confirm. It usually arrives within a few minutes.
- From another wallet: send USDC on Base to the address.
- Important: pick the Base network. USDC sent on a different network (Ethereum, Arbitrum, Solana…) will not arrive on this page.
Keep the payment page open, or come back to the same link — it refreshes on its own once the USDC lands.
After you pay
- The page shows “waiting for confirmation” for up to about a minute while the network finalises the payment, then a success screen with the amounts and a link to the transaction on the block explorer. Screenshot it or save the link as your receipt — the business sees the same record.
- If the page still says waiting after 10 minutes, contact the business with your transaction hash (your wallet shows it under activity).
Common questions
- Is this safe? The payment goes directly from your wallet to the business in one transaction. Vesta cannot touch your money and will never ask for your seed phrase, recovery words or private key. If anything does, stop.
- Why two confirmations? Browser and phone wallets first approve the exact amount, then send it. The passkey wallet combines both into one.
- I paid the wrong amount, paid twice, or the link had expired. Payments on the blockchain cannot be reversed by Vesta. Contact the business — they see every payment and will sort out a refund or credit with you directly.
- What does Vesta know about me? Your wallet address and the transaction, which are public on the blockchain anyway. No name, no email, no card, no trackers. See our privacy architecture.
- What if I lose my passkey? Only your passkey can move money from that wallet, so treat it like cash: add just the amount you need for the payment. If your device is lost and the passkey was not synced, that wallet cannot be recovered — not by you, and not by Vesta.
- Can I pay by card? No — during the pilot you need USDC in a wallet or on an exchange account. If you have neither, ask the business for another way to pay.
- Do I need a wallet at all? Not if your USDC is on an exchange: use Send from an exchange or any wallet and withdraw straight to the payment's address.
Still stuck?
First contact the business you are paying — they can see your payment. For problems with the page itself, message us on WhatsApp or email support@vestapayments.com.
